On Tuesday we joined the Royal Thai Navy Narcotics Unit in Sattahip as they conducted another of their regular illegal drug investigations. The day began with the arrest of Khun Wirachart aged 26, a suspected drug dealer who was caught with 5 packets totaling 1g of Crystal Methamphetamine, known in Thailand as “Ya Ice”. A call was placed by an undercover operative who arranged to meet him in front of a school located on the Sukumvit Road. On Monday Evening Pattaya Police arrested Khun Nopakoon aged 41, a motorbike taxi driver working at the Jomtien Complex who was wanted for questioning in connection with an incident which occurred on 3rd March with a Frenchman who later died in Hospital. Investigators at the Economic and Cyber Crime Division of the Royal Thai Police were recently made aware of an advertisement running in a Pattaya English Language Newspaper which was offering copies of popular movies and UK TV Series. They discovered that the man behind the operation was an ex-pat from Liverpool, England but needed more evidence before they could arrest him. A meeting was set-up with the suspected seller; Mr. Robert Newton aged 64, in the car park of the Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel. Just after 2am on Tuesday, Rescue Services were called to the front of an apartment block located in Soi 6 off the Siam Country Club Road to assist a 16 year old girl who had apparently attempted to take her own life. The girl was discovered hanging in front of the apartment complex by local residents. She was unconscious and rushed to Hospital where Doctors tell us she sustained no permanent damage and is expected to make a full recovery. Just before 8.30 on Monday Morning, at the Wonderland Village 2 in Naklua, a security guard was on a regular patrol of the estate when he encountered the body of a Thai Man who was situated close to a wall of one of the houses. The man was carrying no forms of identification but was carrying a ticket from a local Pawn Shop in the name of Khun Mondree aged 36. He was also carrying around 420 Baht in cash. Police estimate the man had been dead for approximately 2 hours and there were no signs of visible trauma on the body. Early on Monday Morning, Police and Police Volunteers were called to a massage shop located in Soi Pattayaland 2 off Pattaya Beach Road after staff members reported the presence of two men, one armed with a gun, who had threatened a staff member. The two men were located nearby and identified as the two suspects by staff members of the shop. One of them was in possession of a loaded handgun and was found to be the younger brother of a former staff member. The suspect was angry that her sister had lost her job and decided to threaten and scare current employees who had apparently forced her to quit her job. In the early hours of Monday Morning, Police were called to Pattaya Beach Road in front of Pattaya Police Station to deal with an apparent attack on a tourist by a local Thai man. At the scene, Officers detained Khun Boonmee aged 33, a local Shoe Shiner and part-time Muay Thai Boxing performer at a local Beer Bar Complex. A steel post, used to hold up beach umbrellas was found nearby and was covered in blood. The suspect confessed to using the item to attack the Tourist who was rendered unconscious. Because of his state and lack of identification on his person, his name and nationality could not be determined. The victim had sustained a serious head wound and was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital while Police questioned the suspect and witnesses at the scene and determined that Khun Boonmee, who was in a drunken state, had attempted to rob the victim of his possessions. A scuffle ensued, during which the suspect picked up the steel pipe and used it to strike the victim until he was rendered unconscious. 14 year old boy missing presumed drowned at South Pattaya Beach. |

On Sunday Morning, rescue services were called to the Yin Yom Beach located at the end of Soi 5 off the Pratamnak Road in South Pattaya to assist in searching for a 14 year old boy who was missing, feared drowned. At the scene were the distraught parents of the boy, Khun Kamdee aged 56 and his wife, Khun Malae aged 45. The family had travelled down from Bangkok to attend a graduation ceremony for their 22 year old son who had completed his studies at the local Mahathai Vocational School. After the ceremony, the family decided to go to the beach where the victim played with local children on the shoreline for a time until he decided to go out for a swim. The boy appeared to be caught in strong currents and a local fisherman, Khun Boonchoi aged 57 spotted the boy and told him to return closer to shore. He refused to go and the fisherman left the scene in his small boat. Moments later the boy screamed for help and a number of beachgoers attempted to rescue the boy without success.
