Annual General Meeting of the Eastern Hotels Association

On Wednesday afternoon the annual general meeting of the Eastern Hotels Association took place at the Dusit Thani hotel in North Pattaya.

            The meeting was chaired by Pattaya mayor Khun Itipon who led the organizing committee which had been given the task of preparing for the election of a new management board. As is now standard at these kinds of meetings a power point presentation was used to impart the salient points of the meeting. Laser Foam Party meeting at City Hall

At a meeting on Thursday morning at City Hall it was announced that a Pattaya Laser Foam Party will take place on Friday night 26 March starting at 7:00pm and continuing until 4:00am on Saturday.

            The organizers met with deputy mayor Khun Ronagit and a number of other city officials to outline their plans for the party. Using a power point presentation showing pictures of people wearing sunglasses at night or lying somewhat comatose in beds of foam, the organizers believe they will attract between 300 and 500 people to the event which will take place opposite Soi 9 on Jomtien Beach Road. Suspected British national dies in Jomtien room

On Thursday afternoon Sawang Boriboon Rescue volunteers and local police were called to a rented room above a bar in Soi 9 off Jomtien Beach Road to investigate a foreign fatality at the location.
            Inside the room they discovered the body of a Caucasian male aged approximately 55 and 60. The man had been dead for a few hours before his body was discovered. A search of his belongings uncovered a couple of Visa cards, one of which had been issued by the Natwest bank of Britain. As of this report going to press there are no further details as to the man’s identity.

Press conference showcases collection of alleged criminals

On Thursday afternoon senior police at the Soi 9 station held a press conference to showcase a motley collection of nine people, five men and four women aged between 18 and 44, who had been arrested in a sweep of the city and charged with drugs and theft offences.
Standing out among this crowd was David Solomon, a 44-year-old British national who was alleged to have been in possession of five packets of the Class 1 drug yah ice totalling 6.36 grams.
An 18-year-old Thai teenager was caught with 10 yah bah tablets, while the remainder had lesser amounts of the same illegal narcotic and one man, aged 24, was also caught in possession of a stolen motorbike.

Football team meets at City Hall

On Wednesday morning the Mayor of Pattaya Khun Itipon met with members of the Pattaya City Football team in front of City Hall for an informal photo session.
Now renamed as the Hot Tuna Pattaya City Football team the players and officials were issued with their new livery while the mayor addressed the media. He said the team will be competing in the Thailand Premier League and if they are successful stand to earn 1.5 million baht for first or 500,000 baht for second place. A top-two finish in the League could see them go on and compete in the Asian league.

Shoe vendor nabbed selling fake branded items

On Thursday, after a concerned foreign tourist informed local authorities they suspected some vendors along Beach Road and Second Road were selling fake brand items to unsuspecting visitors, officers from the Chonburi Provincial Transnational Crime Suppression Center based at the Soi 9 police station were galvanised into action.

Sweeping the streets they managed to detain a 32-year-old Thai female who was observed selling brand name shoes and socks. She was brought back to the station with every pair of shoes and socks in her possession and the entire load of contraband goods was spread out on the floor of the stationhouse to be logged into the

Silent drug dealer arrested in Bang Saray

Early on Thursday morning undercover officers arrested a 25-year-old Thai man at a set of traffic lights in Bang Saray and charged him with possession of two packets of yah ice weighing a total of one gram.
As usual the suspected dealer was brought undone by one of his clients who had been caught with the illegal Class 1 drug and coerced into contacting the supplier and arranging another drop.

            The arrested man was brought back to Sattahip police station but refused to answer any questions put to him or cooperate in any way. Perhaps he is a fan of the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons song ‘Silence is Golden’, or maybe a member of the Trappist order of monks. Whatever the case the man will face court proceedings

Stolen taxi recovered in south Pattaya

Back on 24 February this year a 48-year-old Thai male taxi driver was brutally assaulted at a remote location in Sattahip by three teenagers and his taxi stolen. The man had earlier driven down from Bangkok and dropped a fare in south Pattaya when he was hired by the three teenagers to take them to Sattahip.
A reward of 50,000 baht was offered for information leading to the recovery of the taxi and on Thursday morning it resulted in a phone call telling police the taxi was in the Wat Chaimongkol parking lot in south Pattaya.
