British Bar owner arrested by Immigration police

At around 2:00am on Wednesday police from the Immigration office based in Jomtien entered the Roxy go-go bar on Walking Street and arrested Mr Jason Hill, a 41-year-old British national on a charge of working without the correct documentation. He was brought to the Soi 9 police station where he was interviewed and allegedly accepted the charge. He was also asked for his passport but told officers it was back in his room. Further checks are expected to be made regarding Mr Hill’s visa status.

Local man charged with rape of minor

On Monday evening police from the Women and Child Rights Protection Center unit based at Banglamung station, acting on an warrant issued on 6 March, arrested a 36-year-old Thai male in Laem Chabang and charged him with raping an 11-year-old Thai female.
The arrest warrant was issued after the mother of the 11-year-old girl made a formal complaint at the police station. The man is the stepfather of the girl but he denied the charges laid against him. He will appear in court in coming days to defend the accusation.

Man commits suicide

On Monday morning rescue services and police were called to a house in Huay Yai sub-district to deal with reports of a man who had allegedly committed suicide at the location.
Inside the small house officials found a 40-year-old man who had hung himself with nylon rope from a roof beam. His 43-year-old brother said his younger sibling had been suffering physical problems which had left him unable to work. After despairing of ever being cured he had apparently decided to end his life.

Girl suffers miscarriage in stranger’s bathroom

A 19-year-old Thai female, suffering from severe stomach pains, miscarried in the bathroom of a 71-year-old Dutch national and his girlfriend in the Niran Grand Condo complex on Saturday night 13 March.

The teenager was six-months pregnant and had come to Niran Condo to visit a friend, but the friend was not home. As the teenager prepared to return to her own residence she felt severe stomach pains and knocked on the door of a nearby room. The occupier, a 71-year-old Dutch national, explained that he was surprised to find a pregnant women standing in front of him asking to use his bathroom as a matter of urgency. Paintball Championships Conclude

On Sunday 14 March the final of the 2010 Pattaya International Paintball Championships was conducted at a specially constructed playing field at the sports stadium in Soi Chaiyapreuk 2 in Jomtien.
Teams from nine countries had participated in the event, spread across three divisions. Teams from Thailand dominated proceedings with victories in Division 1 and Division 3. A team from Singapore won Division 2. Prizemoney was 100,000 baht for first, 80,000 baht for second and 60,000 baht for third place.

Father Ray Foundation opens new dedicated housing project

On Saturday 13 March  a special ceremony was conducted by the Father Ray Foundation, located on Sukhumvit Road, to officially open two newly constructed houses at what is called the Father Ray Children’s Village.
Children, staff, students and many expats and locals, including Khun Ronagit, a deputy mayor of Pattaya, listened as the ceremony began with students from the School for the Blind and the Vocational School for People with Disabilities singing to the assembled guests. The singers were dressed in costumes featuring the flags of the countries of donors who had provided the funds to build the houses. These included Britain, Finland, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland and many others.

The usual speeches included presentations of certificates to those supporters

Futsal Cup Competition Completed

Monday March 15 saw the completion of the Pattaya Futsal Cup 2010 competition. The two finals of this indoor football tournament were contested at School Number 7, located on Sukhumvit Road near Jomtien.
The Under 17 final was won by the home side, namely School Number 7, who defeated Banglamung School. The Open division was taken out by team Nong Pan Kae who downed the team from Wat Thamsamakee.
After the games were completed the usual presentation of trophies took place.
