On Monday at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Wirawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya chaired a press conference to announce the Pattaya International Paintball Championships which is set to take place between 12th and 14th March at the National Eastern Seaboard Stadium located in Soi Chaiyapreuk 2 in Jomtien. The event has been organized by the Thailand International Paintball Association under the chairmanship of Khun Narkboot. It is hoped that around 500 “paintballers” will take part in the event and around 5,000 spectators will attend over the three days of competition. 80 year old suspected drug dealer caught by Officials in Sattahip.
On Monday Morning we joined a team of local government officials and Royal Thai Navy Narcotics Officers as they conducted a raid of a house thought to be occupied by three drug dealers. The day began with an undercover operation whereby an operative purchased drugs using marked bank notes from an 80 year old female suspected drug dealer, Khun Wan. During the subsequent raid, her 39 year old daughter, Khun Somkit was also arrested along with a suspected drug buyer, Khun Namfon aged 27. A total of 9 Yabba Tablets were seized during the operation. All three were transferred to Sattahip Police Station for processing where it was found that the 80 year old suspect had been in prison back in 1994 on a charge of dealing in Heroin. She received a sentence of 11 years and 4
21st Anniversary Celebration for the Pattaya-Utapao International Airport.
On Monday morning we travelled to Utapao Airport, located 45 minutes from Pattaya for their 21st Anniversary celebration which also marks a change in name for the airport to the Pattaya-Utapao International Airport. The event was hosted by Rear Admiral Sorashar, the Director of the Airport which is situated within the Sattahip Military Airbase. Although commercial flights are limited at this time, plans to expand commercial flights for the Domestic and International market are ongoing with plans to improve the terminal building and other facilities for travelers. Eastern Seaboard BB gun Championship held here in Pattaya.
BB Gun Ranges are becoming increasingly popular here in Pattaya and gives competitors the opportunity to use large guns in a controlled environment. Although BB Guns can be lethal if used incorrectly, the ranges insist on competitors wearing protective clothing and face masks to avoid injury. Despite this, it does hurt if you are shot. Over the weekend we attended the Combat and Tactical BB Gun Range located off Pattaya Third Road for the first round of the ASTG Eastern Thailand Championship 2010 which allows teams from around the Eastern Seaboard to compete to find the number one BB Gun Team in the region. 1 Dead and 4 injured in drunken road crash on the outskirts of Pattaya.
In the early hours of Monday Morning a fatal road accident occurred on the Sukumvit Road close to the entrance to Nong Nooch Gardens. The accident involved a Blue Toyota Tiger Pick-up which had been driven by Khun Ngern who decided to leave the scene of the crash before authorities arrived. The truck was full of construction workers sitting on the back of the vehicle. The driver had apparently lost control and slammed into an electric pylon situated in the central reservation. Those riding on the back of the truck were thrown from the vehicle and suffered a variety of injuries and one man, Khun Supiet aged 44 lost his life and was pronounced dead-at-the-scene.
