On Monday Evening Pattaya Police arrested Khun Nopakoon aged 41, a motorbike taxi driver working at the Jomtien Complex who was wanted for questioning in connection with an incident which occurred on 3rd March with a Frenchman who later died in Hospital. The suspect was question by Police Colonel Nantawoot, the Pattaya Police Chief who was told that back on 3rd March the suspect entered into an altercation with Mr. Albert Emile Delrue aged 74 from France in front of the Second Road entrance to Mike Shopping Mall in South Pattaya. During the altercation, the suspect claimed he was slapped across the face by the Frenchman. He retaliated with a single punch to the Frenchman’s head. He then collapsed to the ground and Khun Nopakoon then fled the scene. Mr. Delrue was taken to Hospital and later transferred to Chonburi Hospital where he passed-away on 17th March. Police are yet to charge the suspect who is cooperating with the investigation and claimed he did not intend to cause serious injury to Mr. Delrue and was only responding to the slap across the face.
