Following orders from the Provincial Police Commander, Pattaya Police took part in a riot training exercise on Tuesday in preparation for possible disturbances involving Pro-Thaksin Red Shirt Protesters here in Pattaya. Although demonstrations are expected to take place mainly in the Bangkok area, the Police Commissioner has asked for the additional training. Members of the public assisted in the exercise which was supposed to simulate a riot. It was not the most realistic of exercises that we have ever seen and the officers involved appeared relaxed as the protesters pushed against metal barriers, knowing that this was only a simulation.
