On Thursday, after a concerned foreign tourist informed local authorities they suspected some vendors along Beach Road and Second Road were selling fake brand items to unsuspecting visitors, officers from the Chonburi Provincial Transnational Crime Suppression Center based at the Soi 9 police station were galvanised into action.
Sweeping the streets they managed to detain a 32-year-old Thai female who was observed selling brand name shoes and socks. She was brought back to the station with every pair of shoes and socks in her possession and the entire load of contraband goods was spread out on the floor of the stationhouse to be logged into the database. The woman assured officers it was one size fits all as far as the socks are concerned.
