On Sunday Morning, rescue services were called to the Yin Yom Beach located at the end of Soi 5 off the Pratamnak Road in South Pattaya to assist in searching for a 14 year old boy who was missing, feared drowned. At the scene were the distraught parents of the boy, Khun Kamdee aged 56 and his wife, Khun Malae aged 45. The family had travelled down from Bangkok to attend a graduation ceremony for their 22 year old son who had completed his studies at the local Mahathai Vocational School. After the ceremony, the family decided to go to the beach where the victim played with local children on the shoreline for a time until he decided to go out for a swim. The boy appeared to be caught in strong currents and a local fisherman, Khun Boonchoi aged 57 spotted the boy and told him to return closer to shore. He refused to go and the fisherman left the scene in his small boat. Moments later the boy screamed for help and a number of beachgoers attempted to rescue the boy without success. Pattaya Sea Rescue Divers searched for the boy until 4.30pm when the search was called off. Officials expect the body of the boy to be washed up in the coming days.
