Back on 27th March at 1am, two men stole a pick-up which was parked up on the road running adjacent to the train track close to the Tamsamakee Temple. Inside was its driver who was sleeping. Khun Somsak aged 33 was dragged from his car and thrown to the floor. The two assailants then drove off in the Bronze Nissan Nivara pick-up. Since that time Police have been searching for the vehicle and over the weekend, a checkpoint had been set-up in Soi 7 off the Tepprasit Road in Jomtien. The vehicle was spotted by officers who attempted to stop it. The vehicle did not stop and a chase ensued. Eventually the vehicle stopped on Jomtien Beach Road and the driver and passengers decamped. 9 people included 8 men and 1 woman were rounded-up and taken to Pattaya Police Station with the stolen vehicle which was identified by its rightful owner who also attended the station. The two initial suspected thieves were identified from the group of 9 and charged with the offence. The others were profiled and later urine tested for the presence of narcotics, the results of which are unknown.
